Becoming a Member of the Library

All members of The School of Pharmacy are welcome to join the Library. Please fill in an application form available from the Library Issue Desk or download your own PDF copy of the form. 

Your School ID card is also your library card. You will need this card to borrow, reserve and renew library material.

We regret that we are not able to offer borrowing facilities to outside visitors. However, visitors may use the Library for reference purposes to consult material not available elsewhere.

Loans and Fines

Undergraduates and Taught Postgraduates may borrow up to six normal loan books, three videos, four 7-day loan books and three overnight loan items at a time.  Fines for overdue books are charged at a rate of 25p per day for each normal loan item, 50p per day for each 7-day and overnight loan item.

Our short loan collection has a separate fine system as the books are heavily in demand.

Research Postgraduates and Staff may borrow up to ten normal loan books and up to ten journals, three videos, four 7-day loan books, three overnight loan items at a time. Normal loan books are issued for thirty days and journals for three days at a time.

Alumni may borrow up to four normal loan books and up to two 7-day loan books. Normal loans are issued up for thirty days at a time.

Renewals

Undergraduates and Taught Postgraduates may renew their books as many times as necessary unless the item has been reserved.

Renew items yourself via the 'user services' option in the Library catalogue. Your user ID is the barcode at the bottom of your School ID card, your PIN is initially available from the Library Issue Desk. You will not be able to renew online if you have overdue books or outstanding fines.

Call 0207 753 5833 to renew over the phone, please have your User ID at hand. You will not be able to renew over the phone if your books are overdue, or you have outstanding fines.

Reservations

Reserve library material online via the Library catalogue, using your School of Pharmacy barcode number and your PIN.

Items can only be reserved if ALL loan copies are already out.  Remember, you will not be able to reserve library books if you have overdue items or unpaid fines on your record.

Users are usually informed by email when a reserved item is available, please note it will only be held for 4 days. You can also check your reservations' status via 'user services' option on the Library catalogue.
