The School of Pharmacy Students’ Union (SOPSU) is here to help you settle into student life quickly. SOPSU runs events in the first week (Freshers’ Week) and then throughout the year to help everyone meet up, have fun and get to know each other.
Every year the Freshers are introduced to the university in style with a Boat Party. It’s an annual tradition where everyone gets on a boat and parties until late. We also have dinners, sightseeing trips, pub crawls and Union nights where everyone gets to sample some of the cheapest drinks in London. We also hold an annual Midsessional Ball in a top London hotel – everyone dresses to impress and has an unforgettable night.
If all this partying and socialising isn’t really your thing, then SOPSU also offers you the chance to join some of our many societies. Here you will meet like-minded people and have a great time. We also offer the chance to join one of our sports teams. We have football, netball, basketball and cricket. All of our sports teams play in the University of London Union (ULU) leagues.
Our JCR Bar
The Junior Common Room of the Students’ Union is located in the School. You can relax by playing pool, watching Sky TV, surfing the net or just chatting with friends.
University of London Union
As a student at The School of Pharmacy, you will be a member of the University of London Union (ULU). You name the club or sport and you can join it at ULU. If dancing is your thing, try the Salsa Society or the Indian Dance Society or the Ballroom and Latin American Dancing Society. Those with musical talents can audition for the Chamber Choir or Chorus or Orchestra. The more adventurous can join the Mountaineering Club or Caving Club. If sport is your thing, ULU’s got it – athletics, badminton, basketball, fencing, gymnastics, hockey, judo, karate, netball, polo, sailing, swimming, table tennis, tennis, volleyball and water polo. ULU is a 10 minute walk away from The School of Pharmacy so it’s the perfect place to meet friends for a coffee in between classes.
