Liberal Democrat Shadow Health spokesperson Sandra Gidley MP yesterday joined students from The School of Pharmacy at a teaching community pharmacy to learn more about the facility.
Green Light Pharmacy has developed a purpose built teaching facility at its Euston branch in collaboration with The School of Pharmacy, University of London to offer health awareness and health promotion seminars to the local community, and experiential and classroom-based learning to undergraduate students. The facility, launched in November 2004, allows students to watch live video links of the pharmacy and consultation areas from a seminar room.
During her visit, Sandra, MP for Romsey, spoke to Green Light Pharmacist Tim O’Donoghue about his work in promoting health awareness in the local community. She also joined students to watch a ‘live’ medicines use review along with Professor Anthony Smith, Dean of The School of Pharmacy, and Professor Ian Bates, the School’s Head of Education.
Professor Smith said, “I am pleased that we have been able to showcase this community facility - the first of its kind and one of many initiatives that the School has taken to provide our students with an innovative and exciting curriculum that actively engages them.”
